Porsche Leads GTP Sebring Test, BMW in GTD PRO

Matt Campbell led GTP IMSA’s Sanctioned Test at Sebring International Raceway with the #6 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 setting the quickest time of the three-day leaderboard. Five Porsche Penske Motorsport works drivers squatted the top 6 fastest laps of the 7 sessions.

Five BMW M4 GT3 EVO did set the top 6 fastest laps in GTD PRO.

#6 Porsche 963 with 2 fastest laps

Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet led the combined sessions results by driver and class fastest lap with #6 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963. Campbell did set the best lap of 1:48.215, the best time of the entire test. Mathieu Jaminet led Wednesday’s session 3 with the second fastest lap of combined sessions. Their long races teammate, Kevin Estre, was sixth overall.

#10 Cadillac second overall

With #40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R unavailable due to damage sustained in the Daytona 24 Hours, Louis Deletraz and Jordan Taylor did split time in the #10 Cadillac with Deletraz setting the third-fastest in the combined sessions with a 1:48.576 turned Thursday morning (session 6).

#7 Porsche third

Felipe Nasr and Laurens Vanthoor did set the fourth and fifth fastest laps of combined sessions with #7 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 which is third fastest of GTPs during Sebring Sanctioned Test.

Cadillac #31 fourth

The Action Express Racing’s #31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R was fourth overall of GTPs with Jack Aitken setting the seventh fastest lap by driver. His teammates Frederik Vest and Earl Bamber confirmed the velocity of the #31 Cadillac with the 10th and 11th fastest laps.

Acura and BMW in top 10 per driver

Scott Dixon driving #60 Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/ Curb Agajanian Acura ARX-06 was 8th fastest and Sheldon van der Linde was 9th fastest with #25 BMW M Team RLL BMW M Hybrid V8. #60 Acura is fifth of ranking per GTP team and #20 BMW sixth.

Valkyrie’s debuts in IMSA

The #23 Aston Martin THOR Team Valkyrie was the slowest of GTP cars with Tom Gamble turning the 29th fastest lap of combined sessions in 1:50.097, 1.882 seconds short of Campbell’s fastest lap.

Five BMW M4 GT3 drivers in top 6 GTD PRO

Jesse Krohn in the #48 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 was the fastest GTD Pro competitors (2.02:237) with his teammate Dan Harper setting the third fastest lap of combined sessions. The three #1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GTE EVO works drivers (De Philippi, Verhage and Snow) were respectively 4th, 5th and 6th of combined sessions fastest lap per driver.

#64 Ford Mustang GT3 second

Sebastian Priaulx was second of GTD PRO with #64 Ford Multimatic motorsports Ford Mustang GT3 in 2.02:368, 0.131 seconds slower than class’ fastest lap.

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will resume March 12-15 with the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring is due to start at 10 a.m. ET March 15.
