Porsche 911 GT3 R front row for Nürburgring round
It’ll be a Porsche 911 GT3 R front row with #96 Rutronik driven by Andlauer, Müller and Niederhauser in pole, 0.088 sec. ahead of #22 Schumacher CLRT with Bocolacci, Heinrich and Güven on board.
#163 GRT Grasser Lamborghini will start in second row (P3 in combined qualifying) ahead of the two yellow Mercedes-AMG GT3 with #48 in second row and #2 in thrid row. #71 Ferrari 296 GT3 was fifth combined qualifying and will start from third row also.
The morning qualifying session of the 3 hours of Nürburgring (thrid round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered By AWS Endurance Cup) saw sunshine warming up the atmosphere for the first time since Friday practices. Track was improving during the three sessions.
Qualifying 1
Drivers performing the 1st qualifying session at the Nürburgring were facing a rather cool temperature and a track with some damp areas were a couple of seconds could easily been lost. Track was improving with the racing line almost dry so that many drivers improved their fastest lap during the 5 last minutes. Julien Andlauer did set the fastest lap in 1:54.634 in the #96 Rutronik Porsche 911 GT3 ahead of Christopher Haase in the Tresor Attempto Racing Audi #99 in 1:54.790. Rovera with #51 Ferrari was fifth and the two ROWE Racing BMW M4 GT3 were sixth and seventh with Farfus in #998 and Eng in #98.
Qualifying 2
Qualifying two was interrupted 56 sec. from the end due to the crash of #77 Mercedes in the barriers at turn 9. Mattia Drudi was the fastest with #007 ComToYou Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in 1:53.360 ahead of Vincent Abril in #71 Af Corse Francorchamps Motors Ferrari 296 GT3 in 1:53.524.
Combined results of both qualifying sessions saw Porsche #96 0.043 sec. ahead of #007 Aston Martin and #22 Schumacher CLRT Porsche third 0.011 sec. behind. #163 GTR Grasser Lamborghini was fourth 0.177 sec. behind #22 and #71 Ferrari, 0.019 sec. further in fifth. ROWE Racing BMW M4 GT3 #998 was still in P6 combined results thanks to Dan Harper in 1:54.139 9th best lap of the second session.
Qualifying 3
Track was getting gripper and gripper thanks to temperature raising and more rubber on track racing line for qualifying 3.
Maro Engel was fastest with #48 Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER in 1:53.121, 0.185 sec. ahead of Jordan Pepper in #163 GRT Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini. Patric Niederhauser was 0.018 sec. further in P3 with #96 Rutronik Porsche 911 GT3 R.
The 3 Hours of Nürburgring race will start at 3pm CEST.
