Raffaele Marciello wins, Maro Engel in P2, clinch a 1-2 finish for Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in today’s qualification race for the FIA GT World Cup on the streets of Macau.
Accident fill 12 laps contest
Two accidents interrupted the qualifying race:
Safety car during two laps after both Porsche 911 GT3 R #28 and #120 respectively from Thomas Preining and Matteo Cairoli collided and were eliminated from the race in the opening lap.
Red flag for barrier repairs and track cleanup after a heavy crash by Adderly Fong in the #50 Uno Racing Team Audi with 3 laps to go.
Race was re-started behind safety car for two laps.
Raffaele Marciello leading from start
2019 FIA GT WOLRD CUP winner Raffaele Marciello led the 12-lap race throughout in his #48 Team Landgraf Mercedes-AMG GT3.
Maro Engel with #77 Craft-Bamboo Racing finished 1.172 seconds behind Marciello after he took over Mortara pretty early in the race.
Edoardo Mortara, who started second in the #40 Absolute Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II completed the podium.
Both BMW M4 GT3 in P4 and P5
Starting from P8, Augusto Farfus with Rowe Racing BMW M4 GT3 #11 did a fantastic race overtaking Vanthoor (Porsche #99), Juncadella (Mercedes #91), van der Linde (BMW #32) and Serra (Ferrari #51) to end the race in P4.
Sheldon van der Linde with #32 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 round the top 5, ahead of Daniel Serra (#51 Ferrari 296 GT3), Laurens Vanthoor (Porsche 911 GT3R #99), Christopher Haase (#41 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo 2) and Dani Juncadella (#91 Mercedes-AMG GT3).
